For agents: pay per item with MPP
Content’s Not Dead has full parity for agents. Anything a human can read, an agent can discover and pay for programmatically — no account required. We use the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP)(opens in a new tab) with Stripe Shared Payment Tokens and Tempo stablecoin payments.
Discovery
- /llms.txt — overview and index for LLMs.
- /.well-known/mpp.json — machine-readable payment configuration.
- /agents — markdown directory of all content and endpoints.
Paying for a single item
Each item costs $0.50, charged over MPP using a Stripe Shared Payment Token (fiat: cards and Link) or a stablecoin transfer on Tempo. Request the resource; if you haven’t paid, you get an HTTP 402 Payment Required with a challenge for each method:
# 1. Request the resource
GET https://api.contentsnotdead.com/api/content/{id}
# → 402 Payment Required + WWW-Authenticate challenges
# 2. Pay one challenge, then retry
GET https://api.contentsnotdead.com/api/content/{id}
Authorization: <MPP credential>
# → 200 OK, full markdown + Payment-Receipt headerThe mppx(opens in a new tab) client library handles the challenge/credential flow for you. If a payment fails, the 402 body says why and whether you were charged; see the troubleshooting guide.
Pay with Stripe
Use the Link CLI to pay the Stripe Shared Payment Token challenge with a card or Link payment method:
npx @stripe/link-cli auth login
npx @stripe/link-cli mpp pay https://api.contentsnotdead.com/api/content/{id} \
--context "Purchase this content item"Pay with Tempo
Use the Tempo CLI to fund a testnet wallet, pay the stablecoin challenge, and print the unlocked content:
tempo wallet login
tempo wallet fund
tempo request https://api.contentsnotdead.com/api/content/{id}
